Govy Loops or...

10/12/2008 - 10:00am
10/12/2008 - 4:00pm

This Sunday looks like it's going to be a nice day for Riding!  I'll offer up an Intermediate Govy Loops rides. Skibowl is closed so we can include some trails there. It'll be different then the last Govy Loops ride. Or if we'd rather, something further East like 8-Mile, 450... or Timothy Lake. It won't be but a few short weeks and these trails will be under snow.

Meet me at 10am at the Government Camp, Summit Ski Area Rest Stop. Leave Portland by 8:30am. Please contact me to let me know who to expect.  We can apres ride someplace warm afterward.

new to the area

how open are your rides to newbies?  i am new to the area and an intermediate rider. i am looking for some guys to ride with and learn the area.  i am always looking for more experienced riders to hook up with and i don't mind being left behind.  i ride better with i am pushed.

the dates you have listed for your rides, can anyone show up?

RE: new to the area

We don't mind at all when new faces show up for our posted rides. However di give a heads up to the Ride Leader so we don't leave without you. Of course we'll also encourage you to join our club, but you'll want to anyway!

The Intermidiate rides will always have lots of regroupings and we try our best not to leave anyone behind. Best to get a feel for our riders before jumping in on a Gonzo rated ride :)

Govy Loops - carpool

I am considering this ride.  Are people planning to meet at Gateway between 8 and 8:30 for the ride?

Welcome!

JYthree,

I'm starting to organize some mid-week rides over the winter just to keep the legs moving and stay in decent cardio conditioning. Anytime you see postings from "Chris" or "northofcolumbia@yahoo.com", you're welcomed to come out and join along. We try not to leave anyone behind or left out. We've all been newbies at some point. This PUMP crew has some strong riders, some casual ones, and all of us like to ride and have fun too!

Welcome to the area.

Is carpooling an option?

Hey, I just moved to Portland and I would like to start going on rides more often, but I don't have a car. Is anybody going to drive up to this ride? And if so, can I get a ride? I can pitch in for gas... Thanks,

re: is carpooling an option

Daniel and others.

Those of us who wish to carpool will be meeting at Gateway Transit Center (NE 99th St. and NE Pacific) in the South Parking Lot.  From 84, take the GAteway exit and turn South (Right) on NE 99th.  You will go past a parking garage and a Fred Meyer.  Take a Right on NE Pacific and drive one block where you will approach a transit center. Turn left into large parking lot and look for the bikers.  I will have a green truck with a bike on top.

Govy Loops or...

Skimoly... Eighteen riders enjoyed (I think mostly anyway) a 16 mile version of my Govy Loops ride on Sunday. I'm hoping everyone got to experience a section or two of trail they'dd never ridden before, had a little challenge for an Intermidiate ride and learned something new and fascinating about the area along the way.

I apologize for starting the ride a promptly at 10:01am and leaving a few people who arrived at 10am scrambling to get their shorts on. But the bulk of the Car Pool arrived early and I wrongly assumed that was the extent of the group. On top of that we were freezing! But everyone (I think) caught up and eventually warmed up.
