Ape Canyon and Smith Creek Loop ttrails, Aug 31, 2008

The following are photos taken on the long, fun, tiring, chilly, exhilarating Ape Canyon/Smith Creek loop trail trip on Sunday August 31, 2008:

At the Ape Canyon trailhead parking lot, after a 5 mile ride over Forest service Road 83.

Inspecting damage.  A freewheel stopped working right...  trouble.

It was chilly on top of the Plains of Abraham.  a bit windy and drizzle.  Lovely riding conditions!

Looking down in to Smith Creek.  The trail initially goes down the middle of the drainage and then off to the right side before heading back up out of the canyon.

Descending on the Smith Creek Trail.

Lunch stop at the bottom of Smith Creek.  Five of the 13 people who made the loop!  34 miles and 5600' of climbing.
